Which of the new signings has impressed you the most?
The new players to our club have now all had a run enabling us to have an opinion as to which of them has been most impressive.

For me Thilo Kehrer has impressed the most. He is assured on the ball, reads the game well, can pick a pass and inspires confidence. His defensive positioning is good as is his awareness. Long may he play for our club.

Seems a lot of people are not too high on Emerson which I think is odd, you can see the potential.
Personally I think he will become a regular and will lock down the LB position for a few years.
He is quick and he can play a little…..

Kehrer appears to have settled the quickest and is showing some passion and fight.

Scamacca will come good, I like his all round game, he’s a nice striker of the ball and shows well for the ball.

Cornet has impressed me the most so far. He comes on and changes the game. He’s a bit of a handful.

Paqueta I think will ultimately prove to be our best signing though…. He’s a busy player that likes to get stuck in, but has the skill and touch to open up a defense.

Downes I haven’t seen enough. But from his showing midweek he looks exactly the type of player we need.

I’m really looking forward to the rest of this season, I expect we will play some nice football once we settle in.

Didn't Kehrer make expensive mistakes in his first few games?

I suppose that makes his showing even more impressive.

Alright, maybe his og was unfortunate rather than a mistake, but it's still (usually) confidence-sapping.

Still look short of real quality in goal and left back

Too early to judge properly but all have potential to improve our squad and give Moyes options for rotation and different tactical lineups…

My only concern is Emerson who seems prone to defensive lapses

Re: Which of the new signings has impressed you the most?
It's far too early to judge yet but just on what I've seen so far:-
Scamacca. Looks like he's well able to link play and hold on to the ball unlike your average centre forward
I think he needs to score in the league to get him going
Paqueta. Clearly not only has amazing skill on the ball , able to pick a pass but also appears to have the tenacity required to do well in the premiership
Downes. Looks a very tidy player indeed. Good tackler, accurate passer and a hard worker. Just what we need in midfield
Cornet. Impressive. Works hard, good crosser and a bit tricky. I think he needs to do the simple things well to be really effective. Sometimes he looks almost like he's trying too hard
Emerson. To be honest, not too impressive so far. Gets out of position far too much and his crosses are questionable. I don't think he's likely to be first choice over Cresswell any time soon.I don't think he's the long term answer to our LB position
Aguerd. Only seen briefly before he was injured against Rangers
Kerher. Fantastic signing and an absolute snip! Settled in quickly. Good pacy utility defender. I think he'll do well for us whatever position he plays in
Overall, all good signings with just a couple of question marks

Re: Which of the new signings has impressed you the most?
I was impressed by Scamacca’s first two games in Europa.

Also the natural skills of Paqueta were impressive on his debut but I think will take time to mature.

Flyn Downes was brilliant on his debut for showing us all what a partnership he is going to have with Declan Rice and hopefully Soucek but if not….

I don’t think CORNET has got the credit he deserves for that finish at Chelsea! The papers make it sound like it was just a tap in! When he gets comfortable and confident I think he’s going to be a great addition! I like all of them really they just need a bit of time and relax a bit! You can try too hard

They clearly need time to bed in and we haven't seen the CB yet. However agree with many on here Downes looks good just hope Moyes gives him a decent run.

I'm sure I wasn't at the same game last night?

Lot's of love for Cornet for some reason.

2/3 times he had one on ones and didn't take his man on, he bottled several challenges and failed to deliver one decent cross.

The free kick he took in the second half on the left of their penalty area was fucking dreadful.

Apart from the penalty I thought he was horseshit and I was glad to see Fornals come on.

I wonder what moyes would say.

" i like how Scamacca positions himself in the far right hand seat of the bench and Paqueta tucks nicely in behind him between Flynn Downes and Benrhama as we all enjoy watching Fornals and Soucek play football"

Re: Which of the new signings has impressed you the most?
Kehrer looks like a Defensive midfielder to me, could well be his role when Rice leaves, would also like to see him RB when Aguerd or Dawson fit.

Think he is a great player though.

Downes looked great last night, so pleased for him, the PL will be different but I think he’ll make it. My Father in Law said the same as mentioned below about reminding him of Scott Parker, I can see that.

With more games he’ll open up more and be more expansive in his passing. Hope it works out for him, looks a good prospect.

Scammaca I really like, give him time and he’ll flourish.

You can see that Paqueta is a great player - will take some adjustment but he’ll flourish for us.

Emerson and Cornet together down the left could be a great partnership when they find their groove especially against weaker opposition. Cornet looks sharp and always wanting to get forward. Emerson seems to play high, we’ll see how he is defensively over more games.

Aguerd looked great in the glimpses we saw let’s hope he recovers ok.

Areola - I like him, good keeper.

Over time Downes and Kherer might prove to be the most astute signings but only time will tell.

Re: Which of the new signings has impressed you the most?
I'm happy with all of them but two stand out. KEHRER - I just love everything about him. Quick, aggressive, good on the ball and what I've noticed in the last couple of games is he decent stop talking and encouraging. That's vital in any side. DOWNES - I know he hasn't started many games but players like him are priceless. In the modern age, many players are selfish and want the glory of assists/goals/etc. Flynn is the type of player Clough loved (Mcgovern) who get the ball back and move it on to a more talented team mate. He allegedly had a 90%+ pass rate last night, along with other impressive stats. His discipline will allow Declan to fully express himself and you can already see an understanding between the two

Re: Which of the new signings has impressed you the most?
Admiral -

You make the point the Scammel gets bullied. With regard to last night I think you are right. He looked completely out of sorts and I put that down to his the virus he caught and playing in those conditions while not well.

However, one of the things I like about Scammel, is that he hasn't got bullied, last night notwithstanding. He has really put it about and has been the complete opposite of Haller. Once he's up to speed and well again, and operating on Paqueta's wavelength, I think we'll have a real gem on our hands.

As an aside, it seems that a lot on this site are just waiting to tear the shit out of our recently signed players.. A misplaced pass, a misunderstanding and the vitriol flows. I seem to remember the same kind of bile being directed at Bowen early doors. Fucks sake, give them a chance! And you know what,? There is probably going to be a dud or 2 amongst them but let's give em a chance, yeah?

Downes looked great immediately last night. He looked bigger than I thought he was and was comfortable on the ball. Fucking great signing.

Re: Which of the new signings has impressed you the most?
Downes looks to the manner born.... He will be a first team regular before too long.

Kehrer - Needs to develop a working relationship with the rest of out defence. He will get but for me, lacks the physique of a central defender, can see him playing in front of the defence.

Emerson is dreadful in defence. 100% responsible for their goal. ball watched too often completely unaware of of the threat behind him. Currently Cresswell is a far better option

Lucas Paquetá will become a very important player for us - He needs time to develop relationships with our midfield and strikers. Time on the training ground the crazy number of fixtures in the lead up to the WC should help.

Scamacca did not have a great first half. He looked lost and well off it. Got bullied and couldn't cope. his efforts at goal all wide of the mark. The difference between his contribution and Antonio's was stark. I hope he has the appetite to learn but worry he may be another Haller.

Cornet has bags of talent and, for the most part, managed to stay onside. He will contribute in the months to come, needs game time with his new mates.

Areola had a decent game but some communications with his back 4 was a bit lacking at times.

Re: Which of the new signings has impressed you the most?
Most impressive outright - Paqueta
Most impressive with regard to expectations - Downes

Cornet - will compete with Pablo on a horses for courses basis. They will regularly get subbed for each other.

Scamacca - The boy will be fine given a bit of time.

Kehrer - looks a good player, but a bit blunder-prone. Those blunders may well be down to unfamiliarity with the rest of the back four

Emerson - dire defensively, I can't see him starting much in the PL. I'd actually still prefer Johnson as Cresswell's cover for the Prem. Good flat track bully for the cups maybe.

Aguerra ?
